MATAFONGO WIND 50MW (Eolic Park)
The Matafongo wind farm, located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic, has an installed capacity of 34MW and is in the process of expanding to reach 50MW. It generates approximately 104 GWh each year, bringing energy to more than 42,000 homes. In addition, it has installed a 1.5 MW self-consumption solar park.

MEASUREMENT CAMPAIGN
The project has measurements from two lattice structure meteorological towers 40 m high. Given their characteristics, these measurements have been considered as reference measurements or better known as old measurements. The coordinates and measurement period of the meteorological masts are in the following table 1.2. GRANADILLOS, will have complementary measurements with the installation of a meteorological tower at 127 m high in order to carry out the characterization of wind in the area. The number of meteorological masts that a wind project will require is determined by analyzing the site conditions; topography, vegetation, proximity to the sea, shape of the polygonal, required power, among others. It is estimated that both wind farms will allow the reduction of 88,235 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
Shared value
Shared value Leading the present of sustainability
At GEDOM, we are proud to lead the way towards a sustainable present for the Dominican Republic and the region. Through our emblematic Matafongo Wind Farm, we demonstrate a firm commitment to the generation of clean energy and the well-being of local communities.

When the wind turns into progress
We take advantage of the dominant winds in the area to supply Dominicans with 100% renewable energy, with each watt generated, we not only provide reliable energy to the national energy matrix.
When the wind turns into progress
- Clean energy: We take advantage of the dominant winds in the area to supply Dominicans with 100% renewable energy.
- Sustainable development: With each watt generated, we not only provide reliable energy to the national energy matrix, but also illuminate a path towards the protection of our planet and the well-being of future generations.
- Reduction of carbon emissions: Through our wind farm, we reduce around 30,000 tons of CO2 per year, playing a crucial role in improving air quality and fighting climate change.

GEDOM has invested a total of US$23,078 as part of its commitment to the communities near its Matafongo Wind Farm. One of the most significant actions has been the revitalization of the Sabana Buey Library, which was in a state of abandonment due to lack of resources and maintenance.
Community at the center: Revitalizing the Sabana Buey Library
GEDOM has invested a total of US$23,078 as part of its commitment to the communities near its Matafongo Wind Farm. One of the most significant actions has been the revitalization of the Sabana Buey Library, which was in a state of abandonment due to lack of resources and maintenance. In response to the request of the local District Directorate, GEDOM approved a complete remodeling of the library, which included solving leak problems, improving infrastructure, adapting furniture to accommodate more books and optimizing thermal and acoustic insulation. In addition, tables, chairs and technological equipment were donated to enrich the activities and functions of this community space.
This effort reflects GEDOM‘s commitment to the well-being and development of the local community, turning the library into a welcoming and enriching place for education and access to information.

Educating with energy: Inspiring the leaders of tomorrow
At GEDOM, we have opened our doors to students of all ages to provide them with an exciting opportunity to learn and explore the world of clean energy generation and the importance of respect for the environment.
As part of this initiative, we offer detailed information on how renewable energy works. But that’s not all: we allow students to explore and obtain practical experiences that stimulate their interest in clean energy generation, even inspiring them to carry out projects related to this topic so vital for a sustainable future.
